Catch Up

April was a busy month. It's been decent weather for this time of year around here and we've been able to spend time outside and at the beach. Kylie experience her first beach fire. We can just go down the street from our house to the state park to build a fire. They are currently doing some construction there which means there is some machinery and things there currently but it also means there are less people. I'm sure all that will change when we hit summer! The boys love the fire. They call it the camp hole and say we are on a campout. Kylie seems to like it too and the sound of the water calms her if she's fussy.
Jared had his 30th birthday and the boys especially were excited about that. They made him cards and then we all went to Pad Thai for lunch. Jared took the rest of the day off and we went to a playground, the lake, Starbucks (where the lady refused to give him his birthday drink) and a place by our house on the water for dinner. That wasn't a good experience either but that's ok. Then off to build a fire at the beach. It was a fun day.
The boys are into playing with their trains and playing outside. The play really well together most of the time and this year is so much better than last year as far as meltdowns :) They've been taking naps lately if I sit in there while they fall asleep. Yay!
Kylie is doing great. rolling over and hating it. No more swaddling at night. Sleeping A LOT. Much more interested in food. I think she'd be crawling if she didn't have such an attitude about being on her stomach! She said "hi" as clear as day to Jared the other day which was cute. I'm not one to think babies are actually saying the words - just making sounds - but it was still funny. She's getting harder to take out when I go somewhere at night for fun or if we're on a date. But she's a good baby so all in all it's not a problem. She loves Anthony's (as do I) has knocked over our drinks, experience (watching us) at a Sushi place and joined us for alot of coffee. At her 6 month appointment (1 month late) she is 28 inches long (still off the charts) and is 18lbs 11oz (down to the 90th percentile)
Here are some pictures!

Sushi date

Kylies first time at a sushi conveyor belt (mine too!). She was pretty excited about all the plates passing us by. We had to keep her far from the belt or she surely would have snagged some!
Believe it or not we were not the only or even the first to take this picture. Random people were coming up and taking pictures of us. ........awkward!
The cook gave Kylie a plate of strawberries and whipped cream. Unfortunately Kylie cannot yet have strawberries so Jared ate them when he wasn't looking. We did let her have the whipped cream and as you might guess, she LOVED it!

As interested as Kylie I in food she hates baby food. Then she and I went to a baby shower and played the "taste the baby food and guess what it is game" Kylie played along. Now she's all over the baby food.  I guess she decided if I was eating it it must be good.

Jared's 30th Surprise Party

Ha Ha! I got him! It's not easy to surprise him. He admits (and I admit to noticing) that he was trying to ignore that his birthday was coming and not ask me any questions so that if I WAS trying to surprise him he would have less chance of finding out. I did not even tell the boys (though I REALLY wanted to) because I knew they would tell something.
I had the boys spend the night at their grandparents on Thurs and their Aunt watched them all day Fri. I had taken over crock pots of soup to cook at her house in case he came home early (couldn't make up an explanation for all that soup!) I got all the party supplies and food together in a basket in the garage and covered it up (in case he came home) and cleaned the house! My plan was to pick up the cake, take it to Angela's and then take the boys to meet Jared and some friends for dinner after he got off work. I kept checking online to make sure he was not off work and then he called and said he thought he'd get off and he wanted to come home so we could take one car into town tonight. Made things trickier but what could I do. So I called Angela immediately and she got the boys ready and them and all their stuff outside playing so he wouldn't come in and see all the soup (though we had an explanation prepared). I had already given her my costco card just in case so after we got the boys she went to pick that up then come to our house and set everything up. (she did a GREAT job! Couldn't have done it without her) There were several things that he thought were weird throughout the day but didn't connect to anything happening. For one, people at work kept telling him happy birthday. That was my fault. I should have mentioned in the invite that Fri was NOT his actual birthday but I forgot. Then he thought I was weird on the phone (I was trying not to commit to anything he said and have him make all the decisions all while franticly trying to think of all the options of how to change things depending on what he did. He also told me later he thought the house wasn't as clean as he would have thought if I was working on intense cleaning projects all day (excuse me...what? :) ) so putting that together with the fact that I wasn't specifying what I was doing when he asked he thought I surely wasn't working on cleaning projects (so.... what did he think I was doing and why didn't he try to find out?.... men!) People kept calling me to tell me Jared had left work so I turned off my phone and even lied to my mother in law telling her it was the wrong number because Jared was RIGHT next to me! he didn't hear anything else though so we were good. We met our friends Lance and Carisa (along with Carisa's friend) for dinner and before I got in their Carisa's friend said "there's the birthday boy!" (she knew there was a surprise party but this was again my fault for not specifying that that was not his actual birthday) Carisa saw a look cross Jared's face (and Jared told me later that in that moment he thought there were too many seats at the table and this might be a surprise party - but of course that didn't happen and he forgot about it) so Carisa made some comment about how they were just talking about how many of their friends are currently turning 30. Nice save Carisa! She totally saved it!
I (especially) took my time with dinner. When we left Jared decided we should stop at the store and get dessert - so we did. This whole time I'm texting with Angela to keep her posted, etc. and Jared did begin to wonder who in the world I kept texting so I had to chill with that. Angela wanted me to call her phone discreetly when we got close so she could have everyone completely ready. I misunderstood and thought she wanted me to let her know when we were close... but she wanted me to let her know RIGHT before we arrived. So people were quiet in the garage for quite a while. Oops! We were driving the van so Angela thought to have everyone stand along the back of the garage so noone would be killed by Jared :) This turned out to be a very wise plan. When the door opened Jared told me later he was trying to figure out why there were people in our garage (um...if you didn't know it was a surprise party then why weren't you CONCERNED about this? :) ) After thinking through several things he figured it out.
We had a fun night. I didn't take a ton of pictures but I'll show you a few. I also tried to video the surprise but had the camera on in my purse for a minute before. It's not a great video but it gets the point accross :)

Tulip Festival

Took a drive to the tulip festival today and had a great time. It was a long drive but the kids had fun and got really tired in the 2 hours we spent there. We only went to one field. It was alot of walking. It's so hard to get good pictures and some of my best it ended up I had accidentally pushed a button on my camera changing the settings and they are somewhat washed out. In any case we did get a few pretty good ones and here are some of them.....

First Day at the Beach

Jared was off yesterday and we had a sunny afternoon so we headed out to the beach. We'd gotten the boys pails and shovels on Easter so they were anxious to try them out. It was Kylie's first time at the beach and she loved it. Jared wasn't feeling very good and the wind was a bit chilly but it was nice to get some fresh air. Unfortunately, i got one photo before my camera battery died :( So the pictures we have came from Jared's phone and aren't super great for the most part but they will do :)

Happy Easter

We had a busy weekend! Last week was spent helping Jaden get better and praying Jared didn't get it. Jared did seem to get a mild version of it but by Sat morning he didn't feel great but knew he could do the services. He was leading worship and there were 5 services this weekend and practice so it was alot.
Sunday morning I dressed the kids up a bit and we went to listen to the music at the last service (we had already attended church/kids class Sat night), left and got a bagel, and came back for the last song. During that time Kylie ruined her outfit and I was forced to put her in a stained pair of PJs that I had in the diaper bag for such an occasion. So there she was with all these cute dressed up babies around her and in a stained pair of pajamas :) Oh well.
We came home and did Easter baskets and an egg hunt. The boys had so much fun! I probably had 60 eggs but only hid 40 and thought that might even be too much for them. It wasn't. I should have hid 60. It was cute to watch them :)
then we headed over to Jared's parents house for Prime Rib dinner. We weren't planning to initially because we knew we'd be worn out but they had done a seperate Easter dinner on Palm Sunday that we had to miss because Jaden was sick. so in the end we decided to go and had a nice time.

a Morning at Home

We spent the morning at home and I intended to do Easter Eggs. When I opened the box of dye and things it was empty. What in the world? I just bought it yesterday and there was NOTHING inside. So off I went back to the store. Doing the eggs wasn't quite as exciting as I thought since the crayons didn't work well and there was alot of waiting involved. But the boys still had fun.
We have a busy weekend this weekend as Jared is leading worship at church. Jaden, as you know, was very sick almost ALL week. Jared came home on friday feeling many of the same symptoms. We were worried but God took care of it and at this point things seem good and we have no reason to believe he'll be sick again.
Enjoy the pictures!
