The church we take the boys to for Awana doesn't have Cubbies. Instead they have something called Gopher Buddies.  Here's Kylie in her shirt....

Pumpkin Carving

We carved our pumpkin and the kids were quite excited. Kylie quickly lost interest since she thought it was gross.  The boys thought it was gross too.  We had an incident when cutting the eyes so it now has crazy eyes....

Pumpkin Farm

Geep and Gran came to spend the day with us and took us to the pumpkin patch - which the kids were extremely excited about.

We picked pumpkins, had a hayride, and fed the animals.  Here are some pics.....

Apple Orchard

I recently heard about an apple orchard up in the mountains that was free to get into - AND had apple cider doughnuts (hard to come by over here). So last Saturday ewe ventured out.  The drive was really beautiful and we hada great time.  However, it ended up raining - HARD- starting shortly after we got there. Also, Apple season is earlier here apparently and it was the end of e season so it was a hike to get to any apples at all.  This pregnant lady never made it to the picking.  But jared and the kids picked some, we went tithe playground, bought some apple treats, and of course, the doughnuts.  We never made it to the animals and the hayride was cancelled.  We still hada great time though and will save the other stuff for next year!

Kylie turns 4

A week before Kylie's birthday Geep and Gran came to visit and brought Kyie cake and gifts.

On her actual birthday she went for her traditional coffee with dad....

Then when the got home we did cake and presents - because what 4 year old doesn't want to play with their new stuff all day? Her cake was purple which she had been quite specific about wanting....

 She got lots of fun things but her favorites were an Ariel doll and Belle doll.  She randomly started saying she wanted an Ariel doll a couple weeks before so she was very excited.

And then the traditional reading of the birthday book....

All in all it was a great day and Kylie is very excited to be four!

Here is a video.  Something to note about Kylie - when you hold up your phone to take a video she thinks you are going to take a picture instead so she poses and smiles and stays like that waiting for you to take the pictures. It's pretty funny sometimes!

A few photos

It's been a long time since we took a family photo.  This weekend the stars aligned and we were ready for church early and looked half way decent :) Technically there are all 6 of us in the family pictures :)

First Day of School

The kids were really excited about their first day of school and it went great! We have a lower key week for the first couple weeks so we can take advantage of the pool. But today was so nasty and cold and gross. SO weird for August!

I don't have a ton for Kylie to do.  She practiced matching her letters and did probably 4 or 5 simple worksheets.  But she was asking for more! I'm sure her excitement will die down - otherwise I'm going to have to break out the kindergarten material! She got to use the kindle to do some preschool activities and then when what the boys and I were doing was too boring for her she got to go in moms room and watch some Mickey Mouse on the ipad.  Otherwise she was right by our side!

The boys work seemed pretty easy today. Lots of review and coloring.  It will be interesting to see how the year progresses. For the most part they weren't bored :)
