End of July

Ok, forget what I was trying to do before. Here are some different pictures....
First we have the boys in their "floating suits". I don't know what to think of them. They seem to do the job at the pool but they look a bit ridiculous. The camera can't even capture it. Probably beyond this year we won't go with these becuase I don't want anyone to make fun of them :)
We got the boys battery operated tooth brushes. They love them. jaden's is spider man and Jacksons is Thomas. They LOVE LOVE LOVE to brush their teeth with them.
We got a tent and it is currently in the back yard. Jared will do a back yard camp out soon. I'm tired so that's all I've got...

Let's Try that Again

Here's the same album as in the previous post - but I didn't like how it worked - PLUS it missed some pictures. Can't promise this will be any better....

Washing the Car

I'm testing out a new way to post pictures....
ANYWAY.... here are some pictures of Jaden helping Jared wash the car (Jackson was sleeping). I was on the elliptical in the garage so the pictures are taken on my phone from that angle but they're still cute...
There are also a couple pictures of me and a friend of mine with twin boys nearly exactly my boys age and her older son and Kylie too, of course off to the beach!

Logos Picnic

Jared's company picnic was today. They do a really nice job. TONS of food for lunch, elephant ears, ice cream, snow cones, Italian sodas, espresso, kettle corn, bouncy house, chocolate covered cheese cake, a HUGE rock wall to climb, and a number of other things all FREE! The boys had a BLAST! Afterwards the boys headed to Grandpa and Grandmas to spend the night. Here are some pictures!

Through the eyes of a child

Ok, I don't want to forget this conversation I just had with the boys
so I need to type it out...
When I go to Bible study on Wednesdays they have been learning about
the armor of God. Today they decorated their sun hat which is the
"helmet of salvation"...
Jaden: mom do you like my hat? It's nice. I had a star and two crosses
drawed on there. Those are the shapes of salvation.
Me: oh.... So who can tell me what salvation is?
Jackson: it's the salvation of God!
Me: you're right! What does that mean?
Jackson: I don't know
Me: can you tell me what sin is?
Jaden: I don't know
Me: sin is when you do wrong things like when you're mean to each
other or say things that aren't nice or when you disobey. God doesn't
like sin. So he sent his son Jesus to save us from our sins. (knowing
even this was a bit longer than they could pay attention to)
Jaden: what is sin?
Me: when you are not nice, or disobey
Jaden: what is nice?
Me: when you share or give hugs or obey, things like that (I know that
doesn't really describe nice but its what I came up with in context)
Jaden: (big grin and always the pleaser) I shared that toy with Jackson
Me: yes, that was nice.

Then Jaden proceeded to give us all hugs....
And then....

Jackson: I'm going to pray and tell Jesus to come here and for you to
pray in the van to not forget our fruit snacks.
Me: because I forgot last time?
Jackson: yeah
Me: And that wasn't nice?
Jackson: no. Mom, you need to pray! (complete with a smile, head
shake, and finger shaking)

Ahhhh, kids.....

July 4th

Jared had Friday off instead of Monday and it was SOOOO nice to have a three day weekend with no obligations. Can't even remember when that happened last!
The 4th was pretty chilly which was sad. But we still had fun. Just lazy during the day and then in the evening we let the kids stay up late and watch the fireworks. We didn't go to an actual show but people light off TONS of them at the bay which we can see alot of from here plus in our neighborhood (for my NC friends - you can light off some BIG ones in your neighborhood here). We ended up going on top of the playset so we could be higher and see more. It was fun but kinda raining. Jared's parents and sister stopped by for a little while. Earlier in the day we ran around in some water toys. It was too cold really but the boys really wanted to do it. It's supposed to be hot this week and i knew everything would get sold out. Not sure I'm going to do a pool this year because I'm not always outside with the boys, it's too hard for me to empty, and if you don't it gets gross. Plus we can go to the pool down the street now.

Vancouver

Well, the kids are now international travelers and we finally tested using our enhanced licenses. We've been wanting to get more familiar with BC since we are SO close!
First stop, Tim Hortons for donuts...
Then to Stanley Park. There's lots of cool stuff to do there but since we didn't know what we were doing it was hard to find our way around and figure out what we wanted to do. We learned alot though. They definitely nickel and dime you to death when you're there though!
Then to the Vancouver Aquarium at the park. The kids were tired but it was fun. Much nicer than the Seattle aquarium. We ended up getting a year pass which pays for itself in 2 visits and gives you discount passes to other things like the zoo and the science center. It also keeps the boys free for another year rather than charging them when they're 4 so that will be fun.
They have a 4D film at the aquarium complete with getting splashed and poked. Jaden and Kylie lasted under a minute and then totally lost it. So I left with them and apparently Jackson sat in stunned silence with Jared through the rest of it. When he came out he said he didn't like it but was as happy as a clam.
last stop...White Rock for dinner. LOTS of walking this time but it is SO beautiful there and SO close to our house.
All in all a great day. Though, for the record, Canada has the worst street markings of anywhere I've ever been. every time we go something ridiculous happens :)
Enjoy the pictures....
