Mothers Day

Mothers day flowers. Jackson wanted Lillies and daisies are my favorite so this was perfect.i think at this point we only own one vase and it's packed who knows where in the garage so we made do with a pitcher :)

Overall I had a nice Mothers day weekend. Last year was rough because we moved out of our house on Mothers Day and moved to NC the next day so we were doing a lot of work.
I was looking forward to this being a relaxing day - but it wasn't at all.
We left for lunch and to stop at the store and then Jared brought me home for a nap. When we got home a police officer was waiting for us and said he had been called because we had run over two little girls in our culdesac and then driven away (at least I think that's the story). One of them was at the hospital (for minor abrasions). We were in shock. I'll spare you all the details but when we backed out we saw the girls and felt and heard nothing (our window was down) and no one tried to get our attention as we drove away. There were no witnesses. The two girls were separated to tell their version of the stories and their stories matched. Obviously something happened but we are so confused and upset. Regardless, all the adults have been very nice and were sure before we even came home it was an accident and have been very nice to us. It looks like nothing here will turn into an issue. Jared talked through a lot with the officer )while I was inside bawling my eyes out. I'm thankful he can keep calm in intense situations and communicate clearly.
We are still very confused but it looks like we will just need to move on. I have a suspicion we are known by the neighborhood children as the people who run kids over. Sigh.
What did we learn? We will back into our driveway from this point forward while living here. Also if we wanted (and we didn't) we could have pressed charges against them for the girls being illegally in the rd. kids play in the street all the time but apparently they aren't really supposed to be which I was unaware of. Good info to know - and now I don't feel bad for not letting the kids play in the culdesac!
